We’re excited to welcome Casey Schatzke to the Continuum Powders team as our Director of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE). With approximately 15 years of experience across conventional and advanced manufacturing environments, Casey brings extensive expertise in operational excellence, process improvement, organizational systems, and quality management. His passion for building resilient frameworks and enabling high-performing teams will play an important role as Continuum continues to scale and innovate. We caught up with Casey to learn more about his background, what drew him to Continuum, and what he enjoys outside of work.
Tell us a bit about your background and what led you to Continuum.
I’ve spent approximately 15 years in the manufacturing sector, working across a wide range of organizations, from companies built on decades- or even centuries-old manufacturing methods to those pioneering entirely new approaches. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on observing, improving, and designing the systems and frameworks that help organizations achieve operational excellence.
Joining Continuum was a natural fit because it combines advanced manufacturing technologies with a strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
What will your role at Continuum focus on?
My role will focus on building an organizational framework that is both agile and resilient. The goal is to create systems that can adapt to evolving customer and market demands while maintaining disciplined execution and the highest standards of quality, health, safety, and environmental performance.
What drew you to this opportunity specifically?
I’ve always been drawn to innovative manufacturing technologies and organizations that challenge traditional ways of thinking. Continuum offers the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled teams that are pushing the boundaries of advanced manufacturing and materials development, which made this an exciting next step in my career.
What excites you most about the work you'll be doing here?
What excites me most is the caliber of people at Continuum. The team is incredibly solutions-oriented and deeply knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise. There are very few barriers standing between Continuum and its long-term objectives.
I’m particularly excited to contribute my experience in implementing systematic approaches and integrated process controls that can help accelerate our growth and support continued success.
What's one thing about additive manufacturing or materials that you find especially interesting right now?
It’s difficult to narrow it down to just one thing given the rapid pace of innovation in additive manufacturing, but I’ve been particularly fascinated by the development of purposely induced porosity (PIP) suppressors. It's a great example of how additive manufacturing can be used to rethink traditional product design and unlock entirely new levels of performance.
What kind of problems do you enjoy solving in your work?
I’m a systems thinker at heart. I enjoy designing and implementing systems and controls that work with people rather than around them.
Today, there are countless digital tools and software solutions available that can significantly improve process control and operational stability without creating unnecessary complexity. Identifying those opportunities and tailoring solutions to unique organizational needs is incredibly rewarding because it reduces variation, improves outcomes, and ultimately makes everyone's job easier.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m very much a family person, so most of my time outside of work revolves around spending time with my family and creating lasting memories together. If I happen to have a day to myself, you’ll likely find me on the golf course or at the shooting range.
Any hobbies or interests people might not expect?
I’ve been playing drums since I was about six years old and still have a drum set today. That’s usually something people are surprised to learn about me.
Favorite way to spend a weekend?
A perfect weekend is spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, and having some good music playing in the background.
Favorite place to travel or a destination on your bucket list?
My first answer is usually, "My bed." But if we're talking true bucket-list destinations, I would love the opportunity to golf and snowboard in Switzerland someday.
